WESTCOAST
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Programme | 02 – 03 August 2024

Our AI weekend was of course artificially hyped up and then intelligently put together: On Friday, we start in the open-air cinema with Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie”, whose worldwide success was largely based on the AI-based social media phenomenon and marketing coup “Barbenheimer”. On Saturday afternoon, street artist Rushy Rush will bring art and AI together and offer a workshop for kids and young people on the coast. On Saturday evening, WESTCOAST will then become a stage and we will celebrate a very special edition of the popular “Pecha Kucha Night”, which will open up a variety of perspectives on the topic of “AI and the city” with illustrious guests from politics, society and culture. Afterwards, there will be DJ sets that take the concept of disco a step further and celebrate dancing in the moonlight.

Barbie | OPEN AIR CINEMA

Closed

Need we say anything more? Barbie shaped generations as a doll – and is now redefining zeitgeist and pop culture once again in the form of a film! Greta Gerwig may not have received an Oscar nomination for her direction, but cinema-goers around the world fell at her feet. Her very own, bold interpretation of the Barbie myth was the cinema hit par excellence. Because, in addition to its brightly coloured interiors, heartbreaking songs and scurrility, it is also cleverly constructed throughout – and also quite evil (at least if you ask Ken). The wonderfully absurd, feminist pamphlet in pink is tender, funny, sad and always gives hope – in terms of the fight for equality for women in society, culture and film!

“Barbie”, Director: Greta Gerwig, USA 2023, 114 minutes, FSK: from 6 years, original version with German subtitles

Dystopian, fantastic templates are created, which are transferred to a large canvas using technical aids. The AI is “fed” together and the process combines analogue and digital to create a unique work of art, which everyone can then take home with them.

For children with their families and friends, from 3 – 99 years. The workshop takes place from 2 – 6 pm. Entry is possible at any time.

Frankfurt Stories | Pecha Kucha Night

Closed

The banks of the Main in Griesheim will be the stage for a very special edition of the legendary Pecha Kucha Night. In cooperation with the Deutsches Architekturmuseum (DAM) and Jazzunique, the speaker format specially conceived for FRANKFURT WESTSIDE has the motto ‘Frankfurt Stories’. With renowned guests from politics, society, culture and science, it opens up a wide range of perspectives on location, development, the world of work, health, leisure and future scenarios in eight very different presentations. In this way, new approaches to Frankfurt are revealed that tell of potentials, prospects and sometimes the downright bizarre.

While Sally Schulze, FemTech Founder, will focus on the psychology of women’s health, Steffen Braun, Fraunhofer IAO, will talk about neighbourhoods of the future. And there will also be plenty of specific insights into Griesheim, the WESTSIDE and the surrounding area on this evening: Sascha Mahl, Stadtführungen in Frankfurt, will share unexpected and very entertaining Griesheim anecdotes with us in his slides and Loimi Brautmann from the Urban Media Project will talk about the marketing and communication of the great ‘Westside Story’ of the Zukunftsquartier, the venue for the Pecha Kucha Night. We look forward to informative contributions and new Frankfurt stories.

Admission, drinks and food from 7 pm, event starts at 8 pm

Entrance: free of charge – with registration
