WESTCOAST
LEISURE

Programme | 16 – 17 August 2024

What does free time mean to us – how do we organise and spend it healthily? And what does it take to find moments of relaxation in everyday life or to take care of them responsibly? We will be exploring these questions for an entire weekend under the motto “Leisure”: On Friday, the wonderful near-dropout film “A Million Minutes” kicks things off and prepares the ground for the weekend for leisure activities par excellence. On Saturday, early risers welcome the sunny day with a professional yoga morning from 10 a.m., followed by biking with Karl von Drais and a football workshop for kids with the unique trick legend Saki! This evening also ends with cool drinks, good conversation and of course lots of new leisure activities and inspiration on the banks of the Main. DJ sets & 100% leisure included!

A Million Minutes | OPEN AIR CINEMA

Closed

Everything seems to be fine with the Küper family: Berlin-Mitte, dream flat, top jobs that make sense and earn money at the same time. But there are a few questions: Who will stay with the children? Where are the shared experiences? How do you divide time fairly? What about closeness, career, expectations? These are questions that are constantly on the minds of everyone between 30 and 45, sometimes more, sometimes less.
“A Million Minutes” describes exactly the length of a time-out that the family takes. Time to get away from everyday life, to think again, to reconnect. Then it’s off to Thailand and Iceland. And both countries not only provide us with impressive images and intense encounters, but also form the backdrop for one of the strongest German films of recent times.

With outstanding performances by Karoline Herfurth and Tom Schilling, the film evokes something very special: a reflection on one’s own living conditions, relationships, time – above all, leisure time! And that is precisely why this “A Million Minutes” fits in so well with the weekend’s main theme of “Leisure”. Hamster wheel was yesterday, today it’s WESTCOAST!
